Listen Server Not Working

8 posts in this topic

So we all know how to setup a listen server. Open port 27015, sv_lan 0, "changelevel", then have your friends use the "connect" command. But this simply isn't working in 1.07! The day NMRiH came out on steam me and my friend instantly downloaded it and we've literally been trying for days to play on a listen server hosted by me. I definitely have port 27015 open, it's out of the question. Don't assume that I don't know the in's and out's of hosting listen servers because I do it all the time on plenty of other source games (TF2, CSS, etc.), I even dabble in dedicated servers in extreme conditions. But I'm afraid trying to do a dedicated server for NMRiH is way out of my skill range. It's obvious that plenty of other people are having this issue to no avail. If anyone has any suggestions please speak up because this is really frustrating!

Go into your router settings, opening the port with an ingame command does not work. Open port 27015 on both UDP and TCP to be safe.

Once you've got that figured out go in game and click create server, with whatever map you want. Once you've done that open up the console

and type the following

sv_lan 0

heartbeat

changelevel_next

after that if your router settings were proper once the map has loaded in you will be able to host your server.

Even I get stuck sometimes on this due to forwarding the wrong IP or other minor mistakes. Firewalls are your friend, firewalls are your enemy.

I've done this successfully a million times on all kinds of source engine games including older versions of NMRiH. I just don't know what I might be doing wrong this time! It's really frustrating...
