very true. spent a nice junk of my early teens enjoying wolfenstein, doom and duke nukem. i remember gettin DN3d gold edition that had a big manual for making your own maps and converting .wavs of old death metal songs so i could slap them in my maps...then the penthouse animated sprites came out...

some wonderful shit, quake 1 and unreal were great when they first came out when i got into college too. i never got a chance to play Blood and Shadow Warrior though, looks like i missed out. I've been thinking of downloading Brutal Doom recently, shit looks fun.

link to download Brutal Doom in the description of this video for any who are interested.

I fucking love Brutal Doom. I'm waiting for version 19 though, too bad it comes out the same day nurmernermerner does.

WARNING: THIS IS SOME REALLY BRUTAL STUFF

That Brutal doom didn't seem as advertised or as cool as the video you posted Sick Joe, I played it using Zandronum. It had horrendous Z-shearing when looking up or down and I didn't see any of the special effects seen in that video like per-pixel dynamic lighting, also the texturing looks like shit, it looked worse then duke nukem 3D lol. Its complicated to figure out which of that and which of what I need. Too many .wads and different versions of the openGL port for it. :/

Well, do keep in mind that it's all based off of a dos game. You can find high res texture packs in the mod author's FAQ area. I use Zandronum too and it looks as good as it possibly can. You are expecting way too much. You have played the original Doom games right?

Actually I never did play DOOM I wasn' really into the first person shooters, but RPGs. I remember it though briefly 15 or 16 years ago... I was in Blockbuster picking out the lasted final fantasy for playstation, and seen DOOM 64 for $100. I thought it was insane. Wtf this is expensive? but I can't afford this maby one day in the future I'll play this when its cheaper to see what the hype is. ;)

Thats what mine looked like too, but the other video seems there was other graphical stuff it had that made it look a bit cooler?

This is like listening to a symphony, a glorious lead storm symphony.

Those creatures remind me of Duke Nukem. If only those games could be cool again like how some death-bound movies like SAW got a lot of fame, making people imitate the killer's voice: "I want to play a game." You know those games are just jurassic for the 21st century. If there was so much carnage like in the jurassic period, but mixed with modern weapons and evolutionary paths of monsters/aliens, we'd get games like Doom and Dook Nukem! They better have bleeding monsters and shiet, making it ultra gruesome to kill each one, but still you need really good writers. Speaking of writers, no game today really ever tries to tie single player with multiplayer. If I was throwing together a game, I'd try to figure out ways to throw any additional players across different parts of the map/level as spawn locations, as far as single player goes. An idea like that has been on my mind for years and they still don't think it's good? People are missing out by trusting the products of all of these developers! For how I've grown, Call of Duty is great because it's balanced, but it's still a game with limited values! Now that I've seen mods and following No More Room in Hell, it doesn't look any better than NMRiH to me.

XENDRID, that guy could have been responsible for sending me a free pumpkin so that I don't have to WONDER if I will buy myself a pumpkin this year to eat its insides or make some food out of it, especially at least eating its seeds.

I think the text at the bottom could easily been fabricated in photoshop. You can even get psd templates for fake CNN screenshots. lol
