Map news: New update released for steam build play testers!

Background:

NMS_Torn is a survival level for the mod No More Room In Hell, where survivors will defend a FEMA installation 5 months after the intial outbreak. This facility is vital for survival, because it is the last known location to have working electricity in the area. Struggle to maintain dominance in dangerous corridors, or make a last stand in the depths of hell.

b2 update changelog:

-Changed props, and textures that were missing due to latest mod update 1.07)
-Reduced unused props.
-Reconstructed custom extraction.
-Completely revised 3d skybox.
-New areas.
-Improved textures in general.
-Improvements to decals/overlays.
-Added/removed some props.
-Improved environment light.
-Improved zombie spawn locations.

You've got some really great atmosphere established in this map, I can't wait to try the map out when I'm at home.

Looks professional. The right amount of detailing, and layout seems great. I can't vouch for performance (as always), but if the visibility information is correct, I see high frame rates ahead.

Cool. There will be an update sometime after 1.07 is released. I released this so people still on 1.06 have something to do.

Yea I heard (and I kind of know) that a lot of files are being moved about, removed or having a rename. So if you do plan on building it for 1.07, you will probably have to change the textures and such.

Porkchop showed me what the map looks like in 1.07. There is a lot of missing things. Although, this is no big deal. I'll just fix it up when the time comes. The map as is - is not 100% right now anyway. It's fully playable (lol hopefully), but there is some stuff I will add to it after the update hits. It works right now, so everyone can play.

really loveley map: nice atmosphere, good fps, awsome light env,didnt had the time to test the gameplay but i'll do that online someday

u could improve the map by spreading the decals, props and details abit more around the rooms to get a better mix of them instead increasing the ammount

of it,i mean things like the rubbledisplacement, why dont u place a rubbledecal on the floor next to it or some debris props to make it more realistic

remeber also,the sound is total missing,but dont worry i have some great ideas

expanding metal sounds ,dripping water sounds at the sink,fly sounds at the hanging guy,place some nice naturesounds at the windows(owl.cricket,wind) ?

alltogether: its a small diverting crunchy adventure in a creepy atmosphere, cant wait to see the 1.07 upadate with sounds included :P

Checklist:

1. Spread props, and decals.

2. Rubble decal around displacments (I was gonna do this. It's been suggested before in the WIP thread)

3. More sounds (sink dripping is a nice idea).

I totally agree with you that it is lacking sounds at the moment.

The problem with the winds sounds is that I already have ambient raining sounds outside. They are just really soft until you break the windows. Maybe onnewwave I will make some of the glass break.

As far as indoors I will take your advice and try some stuff that goes with the props. I'll add like a radio with music or something. I'll add this to the to-do list for the 1.07 release. Thanks, Orange.

Hey, guys. I just made a huge update to the map for people who are play testers for the current steam build. There is a changelog in the main post. It has been updated to the current version, and the map has greater functionality, and is visually improved in a lot of ways.

Be sure to check it out.

Uh, one question and two points:

  • How many waves are there?
  • My friends and I found literally no FEMA bags anywhere.
  • Most of the doors near the zombies spawns cannot be barricaded.
