No More Room in Hell

"Realism sound replacement pack"

Current version: V1

http://www.mediafire.com/download/fpar1t99k9kgtpb/Happy_Little_Trees_NMRIH_Sound_mod.rar

Size: Only 9mb? HOLY COW

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The containing folder will replace sounds for your NMRiH client. (This does NOT work serverside)

To install:

Go to

Steam/steamapps/sourcemods/nmrih

and place the "sound" folder from the "Happy Little Trees Sound mod" and place in inside the "nmrih" folder.

You will be prompted to merge it, do so.

Lastly, replace all the files and your done.

Launch the game, and orgasm.

NOTE

*If you wish, back up the old files before replacing them with the new ones. If in any case you are unsatisfied with this soundmod, you can put it back to its original state.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Version 1 changes:

*All weapon firing sounds and some loading, rebolting sounds. except for the SKS, and the shotguns.

I felt like they sounded badass enough already... (Thanks NMRiH devs!)

*Pain sounds, grunting when bleeding, grunting while pushing with firearms, and grunting while swinging heavy melee weapons

*Some music, like the menu and loading tracks. (Not much done here, the devs did a fantastic job with the soundtrack already)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Credits:

*Big thanks to devs for making an awesome mod, in which I have thoroughly enjoyed.

*Big thinks to Dhoja and Reaper for helping me alpha this, and for giving me feedback to work out small kinks.

Dhoja and Reaper like to stream Dayz, NMRiH, and a few other games. You can find their TwitchTV channels here:

Dhoja: http://www.twitch.tv/iocaine1#

Reaper: http://www.twitch.tv/reaper209

NOTE:

You MAY NOT alter, edit, or claim use of these sounds without my permission.

You can do so with my prior permission though.

Just email me at slobertroan@yahoo.com

Feedback and constructive criticism is openly accepted by me.

Let me know what you guys think. :D

This is pretty well done. I like the vocal added with the melee swings.

What VSTs did you use for the music? That song was quite entertaining.

I am honestly shocked I am the first to respond to a post that someone obviously worked very hard on. Bravo to your efforts sir and ty for sharing this!

Does this work with 1.07? I'm gonna download it and check it out now

EDIT: Well, I've figured that, of course, it works with 1.07 because the sounds share the same file names from 1.06- definitely a noob move on my end hurr durr.

I think the M1911 and M9 sounds awesome however they could be a bit louder as well as the overall sound in general. The M1911 seems to make some sort of weird duck noise after shooting it which ruins the awesome sound it makes. The Sniper Rifle (sorry, I forgot the name) makes a really weird glitchy static noise when reloading and doing an ammo check-I'm not sure if these noises are on my end or not.

Overall I think that you have done a great job releasing a sound pack and I hope you continue to develop and improve it and maybe the devs will add some of your sounds to the game.

Is there a way to get this working with the new Steam version 1.07 of NMRIH? Merging the new sound folder with the original sound folder does nothing because the original sound folder is empty except for a "sound.cache" file.

I am doing this under to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\nmrih\nmrih\sound\

The only existing file in the original sound folder is "sound.cache"

Ok I found the /sound folder listed in the nmrih_dir.vpk using GCFScape but I assume the files are split across all the vpk's (nmrih_000.vpk through nmrih_015.vpk)

So my question is... Is there a way to import the sound mod sounds into the current VPK's? I lack the skills to tackle this alone. Anyone out there have any suggestions or want to give it a try? This sound mod was really awesome in non-Steam downloaded NMRIH :(

Good morning/afternoon/night everyone

First off, let me say that the feedback that I've recieved not only on the fourms but also through emails that I've recieved has been a great reward for the effort that I put into this little soundmod. I didn't expect for it to gain the liking that it has, and for that thank you.

I am very glad you enjoy this mod.

To answer some questions:

ThoughT, By "VST", do you mean Virtual Soundtrack? And if so, is a Virtual Soundtrack something that you would create using a program such as GarageBand or Mixcraft? I used some music files from Call Of Duty: World at War and another source that I can't quite remember atm. So I guess my answer is no, they aren't anything that I created. But thank you for your feedback. It is greatly appreciated. Cheers!

-----------

RoyRoyMcBoii: Thank you also for your review. I'm glad that you enjoy it. Thanks for pointing out that the sounds for the handguns are somewhat toned down and whatnot. I will begin fixing that as soon as I can. As for the sniper rifles, your quote: "really weird glitchy static noise when reloading and doing an ammo check" I never personally experianced this and neither did my friends that helped me test this before I released it, BUT! BIG BUT! But! that may be because an alteration from version 1.06 to 1.07, being the best guess that I can come up with at this time. Thanks again, ill see what I can do.

-----------------------

fishsticks, and others that have emailed me: I have not played 1.07 yet. I've been tied up with my personal life for some months now, and haven't made time to play videogames or mod. I WILL look into this problem once I have an opportunity. I don't like to start things and not finish them. I plan on making a 1.07 compatable soundmod with more sounds updated and will fix what is currently broken. Thank you all for you feedback. If you have anymore questions or feedback, feel free to email me our use the fourms. Also, can't wait to play 1.07. I heard it has zombies and shit! Peace -Happy

Thanks for your response :)

I can't wait to see this mod working with Steam v1.07 as it adds so much more to the games atmosphere...

It's 100% better than vanilla firearm audio (especially the .22 calibers)

Thanks again!

The noises were static noises that would sometimes occur with custom sounds on CSS when I was into skins and whatnot, maybe I'll record the noises a bit later if you want-granted they are still broken.

Sure, if you have the time.

How did you get it working in 1.07 dude? This has been a puzzler for me

I had the old beta where you had to get a key. My builds didn't use the .vpk's or whatever they are. My brain is muddled on how to work it out now as well. Sorry I can't help you.

EDIT: Download this:

http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?p=26 and be sure to check vpk's when installing it

then find NMRiH's directory

ProgramFilesx86/Steam/SteamApps/common/nmrih/nmrih

Open nmrih_dir.vpk with GFCscape

Done!

I don't know how to edit the files though...

I hope this tutorial was clear enough for you and have a great day!

All,

I was able to create a VPK containing Happy's sound mod using the above posts Insurgency VPK guide as a reference. As of today the sound mod is working in NMRIH Steam v1.7.10. I have emailed Happy to let him know I have a VPK available if he is interested in putting it up for download.

:)
