If it works same way as Dead Island, fuck it. I hated how the game felt.

Apparently this one will be a bit different. Dead island seemed to copy of the boring Might & Magic Dark messiah melee combat, now there going to borrow from Mirrors edge for this. I guess by adding some parkour elements.

Don't know why they are still using Chrome Engine 5 in 2014 which only supports Directx 9? By that time Directx 12 will probably come out.

:o

I remember playing a demo of the original Chrome years ago and loving it because there was very little like it out there (it had ragdoll/open environments etc). Even so, there's just something about the engine that I don't like. The newest Call of Juarez game puts it to quite good use, but something about that engine just feels cheap and budget-y.

While the premise looked cool, I've learned the hard way not to get excited for one of Techland's games until I've gotten actual hands-on time.

And when I said take Dead Island's entire concept, I mean that quite literally. It's blatantly the Dead Island engine in use here, for better or for worse.

Yup.

The engine loads fast, runs well on older hardware yet still looks nice, but there is one thing about it.

Everything feels and looks bulky. I just can't describe it. there is something off about the models and physics which ruins it for me.

Alot of the recent zombie games suffer from same thing as recent zombie films, all glitz and no tits, they just dont have the heart of the genre, they just wanna frag zombies

I think the mistake that keeps getting made is tacking an action game on a survival horror. So you end up with something awful, something that the survival horror crowd is going to hate, and something the shooter crowd is going to hate.

Yeah the last zombie game that had the "fire" in it for me was ZPS. The only game that will do better will be Contagion imo.

Come on Lou, you know what the zombie genre really is. Show these kiddies it's not all about action packed garbage and cgi.

Zombies have died off in the early 2000's. 28 Later series, Dawn of the Dead remake, Day of the Dead remake, Warm Bodies, and now World War Z....ugh awful. Romero needs to come back! (Then again he seemed to have lost it in Survival of the Dead). Too bad he stated he's done with zombies and is working on other films. Oh well, all great things must come to an end eventually. :/

Video games featuring zombies lack the survival horror and go for COD action garbage like Left 4 Dead, Resident Evil 4-6 ORC and Revelations, Dead Island, etc. (pretty much ALL modern games with zombies).

the original day and dawn of the dead were fun and all but notld was where the juice is at and even with my love of notld i still give a *masturbation motion* when i hear people pine over romero...or max brooks for that matter. 28 days later was a great flick, same with the dawn remake and world war z was better than i thought it'd be. i grew up on slow zombies, but they're gone man, they just can't compete with hordes of rabies zombies. granted the market as a whole across all genres is lacking in tension and good old fashioned suspense, every thing is quick cuts and shakey cams. it would be nice to have a director approach the material in a very serious fashion with tension so thick you could cut it with a knife...but i'd like that with any movie. i went in the living room the other day and my lady put on an old hitchcock movie and i was gonna go play some vidya games but i watched the opening 5 minutes of the movie and had to sit down and watch the rest of it, it was nice watching a whodunit without music that gives away what's going to happen and shit happening on the 3rd beat every time, no "closing the medicine cabinet/shutting the giant refrigerator door to reveal someone" shots, no shakey cams, etc. i even knew who the killer was as soon as shit went down but it was done well enough that i wanted to watch the rest of it.

as far as romero is concerned i think he cast a black dude in his movie for story and character related tension and that notld had 0 social commentary, it was the public that put the social commentary on to the movie, so then he's all "yeah yeah, race riots occurred after this movie came out but you know i knew it was gonna happen and i was just making a movie that reflected the goings on in the near future with my magic brain" and then he just started ham fistedly trying to shove social commentary into his movies and that made them kinda bad. dawn of the dead...we get it , a mall, the masses are zombies mindlessly consuming goods, yeah yeah. and max brooks' guide is a fun little read but people that treat it like a end all be all when it comes to the way zombies would behave are just fucking obnoxious. that was the one thing i fucking hated beyond words when i first got on the nmrih team back in the day was people quoting that god damn handbook like it was the bible.
