Here's my attempt at recreating the prison from the Walking Dead TV series. It's not perfect I know, but it's damn hard to keep 100% considering the show is shot on multiple disconnected sets. Please let me know what you think I'm always open to ideas and suggestions.

DOWNLOAD: (1.07) http://www.mediafire.com/download/fh5slazbhqluc9k/nms_wd_prison_v8.zip

VERSION: nms_WD_prison_v8

EDIT: v1 fixed zombies, added barricading and increased weapons + ammo.
v2 added lighting, zombies spawn in the back cells, zombies can get most places, increased items + weapons again and clipped some areas.
v3 slight overlay increase, added objectives (code for armory / blowtorch for storage) additional clipping, reduced wave length and added minor detailing.
v4 custom extraction (thanks to thegregster101), more detail, lots of decals and minor fixes.
v5 fixed what v4 broke and slightly expanded the playable area.
v6 fixed a bunch of stuff for steam release and added all the new weapons.
v7 whole bunch of optimization as well as another detail pass. Added a new secret area for shits 'n' giggles. Added loading screen and music.
v8 fixed the .nav for the hundredth time, added a couple props and compiled some physics props into static and fixed the safe zones not being able to be healed.

INFO 'N' STUFF:
Waves - 10
Objectives - armory code 9247 (code is in the guard tower), blowtorch is in the farthest cell for the storage room.
Custom extraction
No resupply chopper (I intended for the armory to be the source of weapons)
No power inside the prison to encourage use of the flashlight potentially increasing difficulty

SPECIAL THANKS:
thegregster101 - for advice, optimization and setting up the custom extraction.
grasn - for making my custom skyboxes and helping me not be an idiot with propper + pakrat.
jamfilled - for providing a server to test on.
everyone else - for your help and support. Edited by Porkchops4lunch

Looking good so far! I've never seen season 3 except the horrid premier, but this could shape up to be pretty rad if you keep working on it!

This map is now hosted on both of our NMRIH servers:

24.10.123.90:27016
24.7.157.152:27015

We have our official map testing on Monday. I will be sure to provide you some feedback on this map.

Thanks again for all of the hard work!

I just played it and was fairly surprised with how accurate it was. My only real complaint is how orange the map looks. I know you were probably going for that late afternoon-early evening feel to it, but it just looks way too orange, to me at least. As for extraction, why not just do helicopter with a rope ladder or something?

Or a school bus?

Thanks guys, I'll definatly have a go at a school bus extraction. I've never done a custom extraction so any pointers would be much appreciated other than the 'ol "google it."

EDIT (to save myself from a double post) I updated to v2.

Awesome, an update! I'll get right on that.

Wish i could help with the extraction and what not but I took a go at Hammer and sheesh, maybe in a few years, after I get down the basics.

My pointers for extraction are to decompile a map.

nice solid map, if u can make one more detailpass(some decals displacements diffrend cells) and a better lighting(more lights and lighttypes diffrend colors)it will be perfect

Be nice if you could fit more...the yard for instance where they first camp out before clearing the rest. Also the darkness is a good thing with us relying on flashlights. The sun light is strange...but I like it. Beats full bright maps! :P

I'd give ya 8/10. If there was a rating system like l4dmaps did and all.

The series wasn't ever great anyways it's just overrated. Like little girls and Bieber. :P

I was going to create this map awhile ago but couldn't find enough images to my liking to use as a reference. I love how you have done the layout of this map. If possible are you turning this into a objective map as well? Just if you did I would like to through some ideas towards you from when I was planning out making it.

Anyway was a damn good play. Well done Pork.

Thank you everybody for your kind words! I get a lot of mixed opinions on this map but it's great that most seem to like it.

I had to watch season 3 of TWD an absurd amount of times just to figure out what leads where and they didn't make it easy by any means, so I can why it hadn't been done until now.

The idea of finishing it as an nmo has been discussed and I would love to hear ideas and suggestions on how I can make this happen.

I gonna add something to :)

Players spawn infront of the prison grate. They just arrived like at the beginning of season 2, so there are a few cars they used to get there.
The grate is closed and the whole area inside the courtyard and the prison is overrun by zombies. The goal should be to clear the whole prison area, but to access the different prison areas players have to complete objectives. The first objective could be, use the car to open the gate, so players have to go to a car standing near the grate, and have to hold use, which makes the car roll and smash the gate.

This are my first ideas, i may add more later.

My idea for the nmo was very similar. I like where your head is at grasn.

I think the car idea is really cool. Although if it is like the show would you have guns to start with, with very limited ammo. You could even spawn with nothing and have a few little medipaks, guns and weapons like bats and machetes in the boot of one of the cars. Just a thought.

I got lazy and did a google search for the prison they used for the show then I tried to get the blueprints of it. Unfortunately for obvious reasons (Although it was about 3:30am when searching after a 14 hour shift) they don't allow the blueprints of prisons online for public viewing. Stupid me for trying to find them, if I get a knock at the door and men with Interpol badges I'm more than sure they will be understanding . I like your dedication Pork its really good. I feel bad as there would be more mapping for you to do in order to make it an nmo though.

Played this on someones server, gj!

but I have 2 huge issues, lots of brushwork (too much in comparison) Not that i'm getting bad FPS at all but it almost looks fake since you hardly have any models and props in comparison.

The 2 things it seems like you forgot to do (or at least forgot to do evenly distributed around the map are props and decals/overlays.

No trash on the floor, newspaper clippings, clothing, laundry, bodies, etc.

Look at the survival example map on wiki to see how to add supply drop!
