  1. The Maglite has been the primary source of portable light and the survivors bestfriend in darkness. The maglite has one flaw though, it cannot be used with a two handed weapon making one handed weapons more favourable when you're going solo. With the appearance of headlamp, players can see in the dark and wield an AK47/M4A1/Shotgun/etc. at the same time. I've mod Counter Strike 1.6 multiple times with skins and sounds and the models have a p (player), v (view) & a w (world) (P.S. I defined those letters myself so apologese if I make mistake). I using these terms because NMRiH is a alf life mod which is closely related to Counter Strike and so it would be easier to explain it this way.Maybe the headlamp could only be viewable in the p and v so that's already less work done sort of like the Walkie Talkies. Maybe you could reduce the radius of lumination to be smaller than the maglite so there would be balance? So watcha think? P.S. I've rearead my own paragraph and my apologese that it's too formal like if it was for an IELTS Test.
  2. How I see this game mode as: God vs Tiny Ants... Firt of all, it's already difficult enough for some players to struggle fighting against the zombies. When you add the deathsquad to thw equation, you get armored runner Zombies that shoot at you and probably be unstopable. The Deathsquad is just too OP for the survivors to win in every way especially when you get experience FPS players to join the Deathsquad team which will probably hive the Deathsquad team a 999-0 winstreak. Not to mention if the survivors have to scavenge for supplies while the Deathsquad team are prepared already. This game mode is basically a pvp but with only more weapons and supplies for one team. So I would completely disagree with this game mode...
  3. Akimbo is just inefficient and a waste of ammo. Bad for players, good for trollers. I can't see a single benefit in akimbo when you're in a zombie apocalypse...
  4. So what you're saying is, that FEMA bags are a drag and thats what makes it fun? If that's the case then I totally agree with you. What I meant was that the FEMA bags should have a specific location for ti to repair the zone so it doesn't automatically repairs the zone when it enters. The location is an idea to minimize accidental usage of FEMA bags upon wntering the zone...
  5. The point of not having a crosshair is that it increase realism by not having a floating holographic croshhair that tells you where you're pointing your gun. The crosshair is purposely taken out of the game because this is not Counter Strike. Players are forced to aim with the iron sights because that's how the real world would do. I hope you understanf why I will never agree to pit crosshairs in the game...
  6. LoL DrHammer, is your username really just a username or because you are a university lecturer with a real Doctor degree? "I luv deez dokter" -TF2 Heavy-
  7. Can we get back on topic? Yes the FEMA bags are a nusance and annoying which is one of the reasons why i rarely play survival maps. Maybe they could add a small specific FEMA bag zone like they did with the health crates?
  8. Please keep the idea to a very realistic Zombie Apocalypse situation. Bad ideas such as akimbo weapons and alien space rifles aren't even close to real. This is NMRiH not Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombie Mode...
  9. Really? How many of you people have a cat's eye instead of normal human eyes?
  10. I still don't think it's pointless, however your statement is currently true. That's why there is an ancient art and method of staying alive together even though 90% of the server population is n00bs. I don't know if you ever heard it before but it's called COMMUNICATION, TEACHING and TEAMWORK. If you're experienced, then you should be able to survive adequately only with a melee...
  11. How about we just add hadoken, rashingan, and a spirit bomb as well? (Too much?) The point is that this game is realistic and not many people know martial arts that well. Most people just know that to inflict damage, you need to: 1. Bring your hand behind your body 2. Thrust your fist in a very powerful manner 3. Hope you land your fist on your enemy I think adding an uppercut wouldn't hurt that much. I mean whoever plays PvZ 2 have seen a zombie's head come off by an uppercut...
  12. I see it as quite pointless. If you're a teamplayer, you want to work with your team as effective as possible and having that radio is the most important thing for communication. What's the point of seperating then?
  13. I think this thread is getting off topic...
  14. I disagree and agree... Disagree because you used the word thread while I'm pretty sure you meant threat (Just kidding ) The real issue is that the zombie runner is pretty much a fresh zombie that just died a few hours ago so it still has the strength and stamina (what's left of it) so it should be the same as other zombies. Other zombies that bite you isn't 100% going to infect you and so should runners because they're both zombies.
  15. Why not make it like Bloodseeker's (Dota 2) rupture? If you move, then you will take more damage. But if you stay still, you still lose health but it's almost a near 0 loss. Because eventhough you apply pressure, blood is liquid, so it still will find it's way out of tiny gaps...
  16. I support crawlers. They're the living dead. They could operate without an active heart, I'm sure loss of rotten blood would not kill them (or probably will since the brain still needs blood to survive). How do zombies operate? That is the big question...
  17. I agree doc. It's funny how this thread is first started off as a "no special zombie" thread and ends up as a discussion of non-mutational "special zombie" ideas.
  18. That is brilliant analysis (I mean it/not being sarcastic). I never thought about it that way and I would say you hit the jackpot for this idea. But the question now is. How do the devs make the issues (the damaged mag, weak springs, etc.)? It is a half-life mod and I'm not sure the engine could handle such thing (can it?). Maybe this idea is too much for a very small feature to insert in NMRiH? Maybe this could be inserted later on in the future when NMRiH Devs have nothing else to do. P.S. Atleast there would be more achievements (e.g. Practical Problems: Fix a Jammed Weapon)
  19. Flares won't last long though... Chemlights last forever (figuratively). Sucks at lighting paths though...
  20. I think it should be more of an inventory table like in common RPGs. Maybe there could be 2 panels. One is the inventory and one is the ammo crate. So we can take and store at the same time?
  21. 6. I love zombie animals, it makes it THAT much more challenging since dogs are lethal and swift. Who knows that the virus is animal compatible? But assuming that dogs have better instincts then human, they most likely survive from the horde easily because of their smaller size, swift agility, and sharp instincts. So that means in the real world, there would be no zombie dogs, just dogs (anyone up for nmo_zoo? Filled with zombie tigers and zombie elephants). The crawler, is a classic idea and should be inserted to the game but their manpower is limited so give them time to improve something else much more necessary or vital (like that server issue maybe). Welcome to the forum...
  22. DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE. I played Last Stand 1, 2 and Union City. I used to play the MMO Dead Zone but got bored and left the account unopened for months until now. I mostly understand the zombies and yes that is a pretty amazing game. Also it work so well without them mutations... I'd love that idea. And if we get too close, we'll receive damage and maybe bleed... Who knows that a zombie horde was trying to overrun a fort and got tangled up in a barb wire?
  23. Yes I have played Far Cry 2 and the weapons do jam A LOT of TIMES and it's so frequent that it's actually very annoying and stupid. In the end i'd rather count on the Machine Guns on top of the technicals provided which are way more reliable. And the Fallout thing is actually kind of realistic, but it always was also annoyance but I enjoyed the realism. I mean in real life, you do have to keep your guns clean and maintained. If you don't, you are going to experience problems with your gun such as the increase rate of jams and the degredation of accuracy. What I'm saying is, gun-jams can be something new to NMRiH in a realistic way that it could be enjoyed for the suspense and it kinda stimulates panic for the players. Why do you think horror games are so fun? It may not have to jam like the Chinese made guns (known for low quality and cheap prices products in my country) in Far Cry 2. Maybe just a tiny percentage of jam. Say 1%? (for the AK for it's historical reliability and 5% for the M4 because it was much more harder to maintain). There is also another point in jamming and that's not too much on firearms. I'm not aiming to burden the survivors, more to thrill the players with much more environmental challenges. @Trotskygrad What kind of idiot would fire from the hip in a limited amount of ammunition zombie apocalypse? P.S. We can conclude that the weapons held in First Person View is already high ready shoulder position and in third person mode there is no hip position involved (excluding the running animation, even that's not hip firing position) also Jamming is Challenging
  24. Yeah, you're right....
  25. What are Chemlights? (Is it a millitary grade glowstick?) I thought they're everywhere in NMRiH maps and that they suck at the only thing they're created to do. They're only good at attracting attention not illumination... And about the light integrated weapons, if I'm not mistaken, there is something about it not gonna be available for a long time (a really looong time). i dunno, my head is just filled with a lot of forum ideas right now after spending around 2 hours constantly reading ideas & suggestions...
