  1. Just thought I would share this find: http://dayzmod.com Not trying to take anything away from NMRIH, as its one of if not the best zombie games I've played, but this Day Z is tons of fun too, and I figured some of you who have ARMA2 might enjoy it. Basicly its an open world zombie survival game. You search houses, barns, stores, gast stations etc. for items and things to help you survive. You can hunt, gut, cook, and eat animals that roam the lands. You can collect the bolts from a cross bow after you shoot it. (Just like Daryl) You can team up with players, or kill players to take their gear, so every encounter leaves you on edge wondering if this new found 'friend' will stab you in the back. When you die, you start over with the generic load out, but if you survive, your character saves and is cross-server saved so you pick up right where you left off. You can also sneak by zombies, and the whole thing is about stealth. Theres a new realistic healing/medic system and tons of other features. At this very second, the game has run into a problem and most people can't join because they get stuck at a loading screen, but I'm confident it will be fixed by tomorrow at the rate they've been pumping out patches. I would check it out if I were you! Trailer: And heres a funny video of the guys at Shack Tactical playing it:
  2. Just wanted to post this here:
  3. Hey guys, I've created an unofficial group on Steam where people who play both NMRiH and DayZ can link up and play DayZ together. It's currently public, as I didn't see a reason to close it off and make it difficult to join, so here is the page if anyone would like to join! Invite any friends who also play DayZ and like to use teamwork. I think this is the best route of grouping up with people when playing DayZ, since you can (most likely) trust the members in the group as opposed to random survivors you stumble upon in the game. Community Link: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/nmrihdayz Let me know if you guys have any suggestions or changes I could make. I'm also looking for people to make as officers who can help with upkeep of the group, so let me know here or on steam. It would be cool to get as many people as possible to join who like to use teamwork, I figured we could just use No More Room in Hell as a base. Dev's I hope you don't have an issue with this, you seemed to encourage it when it was talked about on the Day Z post. Just let me know if I need to change anything, I don't want to step on anyones toes, just hoping to get some people together and advertise NMRiH at the same time!
  4. With that being said I'll be adding that to my name on DayZ. I'm also considering making a steam group for NMRIH players who also want to play DayZ? What do you guys think? lol also, that video you posted Sydni, I loved that: "Yeah we're not friendly... now put the gun down." Once we get a NMRiH group going, we should definitely rob people.
  5. What does that mean? I like HD too but I don't know what your talking about, and I want to render in Vegas too! lol We should all create a No More Room In Hell - DayZ group on steam or something. People who like to play both, and we can all team up while in the server. We would at least know we aren't PKers. lol, I betrayed a guy once, only once like that. He could barely speak english and when we grouped up he was just giving me orders in broken english. So when we got done fighting off a group of zombies, and he was bandaging himself, I shot him in the face and took all of his gear... He had a lot of stuff. Last night while I was playing, I had my character alive for a few days, and I was sitting at the airfield. Suddenly my guy just rolled over and died. Perhaps I died of natural causes, but I was most likely shot with a crossbow or something.. It was annoying.. lol
  6. Zombies are normally found around towns, cities or barns. I have hopes that they'll implement some sort of roaming system, either in herds or individually, but at the moment they just spawn around areas that have loot.
  7. ROFL your right! They changed the downloads page and didn't add the readme they used to have... well if you add -nosplash -mod=@dayz it should all work fine, just make sure you have the most up-to-date files. I'm sowwy ouji... lol lol I agree 100% with you. I think I spend more time fooling around with the settings than I do playing the game. It's frustrating that my brand new computer built for triple monitor gaming can't play it on max settings because the game is so unoptimized. I hate original ARMAII, but DayZ I'm willing to put up with it for the gameplay. Plus if you add the commands in the shortcut like -cpucount=4 -exThreads=7 etc. than it works a little bit better. Nice video Sydni, glad your playing it, it's pretty fun stuff!
  8. I've been playing for days now, and I'm hooked. Nothing like finding a crossbow, some bolts, matches, and hunting knife and living off the wild, occasionally going into town for water and more supplies. While I agree that the sprinting zombies aren't the best thing in the world, its the best they could do with the ArmaII engine. If they were all slow, they would be almost no threat unless they made huge hordes of them, which would make people with even the best machines lag out since ARMAII is one of the most un-optimized games in history. The only things I hope for in future releases are smoother animations, and roaming zombies. Also, on the whole installing problems, you have to create a shortcut for Operation Arrowhead, and then add -mod=@dayz to the end of the path. It's in the directions, I don't know a thing about installing mods on ARMAII but the directions are pretty clear, just don't skip anything. I play in third person view on a triple monitor setup, only on servers with crossairs, and once I got used to it the aiming isn't too awful. For a game in Alpha it had never crashed for me, so... yeah, their doing a pretty good job.
  9. I thought the same thing when I first saw it, because I had never played ARMA2 Mods before, but don't worry its real... I've been playing it all day! Thats what I used to think, but apparently its DayZ, so it should sound like "Days". I suppose like the days going by? Maybe they got the idea from The Walking Dead first book, Days Gone Bye. I agree with you, on all the other zombie mods, but this one is different, I promise. I've tried almost every ARMA2 zombie mod there is, and this one takes the cake. The zombies stumble around and look just like classic slow zombies, and then when they see you they sprint after you. This is the best thing the devs could have done for ARMA2 cause if they were all slow, they would be almost no threat at all in the ARMA2 engine. Yes, they are reskinned civilians, with blood on them, but why not? They still look like zombies, and the reskinning is pretty good, giving them gray skin. The animations are still not perfect, and there being worked on still, but its more about the atmosphere this game gives off. They even crowd around a killed survivor and eat them when they die. Today I actually did an Otis situation and shot a guy I was running with so I could get away.. I agree though, I wish they looked like the NMRIH zombies, only way it could get better =P
  10. '[jpjmjyh'{hj That was me, face planting into the keyboard.
  11. Hey guys, I'm not too active at all on these forums, but I love the NMRIH community and play the mod constantly, so I figured I would spread the word about a mod I've recently been playing. Besides NMRIH I also play BF3 and games like that, and I stumbled upon this mod while surfing moddb.com. It's basicly a realistic version of Battlefield 3, it's for Crysis Wars, and the level designs are gorgeous. It just came out so the player base is still building, but I figured I would show you guys so you could give it a try. I was playing today and I had alot more fun playing this then I do Battlefield 3. Here is the moddb page: http://www.moddb.com/mods/casus-belli Here are step by step download/installation instructions: Download the following files: Crysis Wars Trial: http://news.bigdownload.com/2008/10/...is-wars-trial/ Crysis Wars 1.5 Patch: http://www.gamefront.com/files/13691...Wars_patch_1_5 Full Casus Belli 1.0 http://www.gamefront.com/files/21523364/casusbelli.7z Casus Belli 1.1 Patch http://www.gamefront.com/files/21548...sbelli-v1.1.7z It's a lot to download, so I did mine while I was at work. I would set it up over night if I were you. Installation Instructions: 1. Install the trial version of Crysis Wars. 2. Install the 1.5 patch. 3. Create a folder named "Mods" in your Crysis Wars main directory. 4. Drag the "casusbelli" folder into the newly created "Mods" folder. 5. Drag the patched "casusbelli" folder into your mods folder and hit yes when it promts you to replace anything. 6. If you run into any problems, and you have an FX-4100 AMD processor like I do, visit this forum post for the solution: http://www.casusbelli-mod.com/forum/...hp?topic=493.0 If you have any problems there is a FAQ on their website, and also feel free to ask me, I might be able to help. Would be a lot of fun to play with NMRIH players on this game, cause teamwork makes it all the more better, hope to see some of you guys on the battlefield!
  12. When you get the CD Check Error, and it appears to add the CD Key, type 11111111111111111111 basicly, 1 20 times. It should work, I got the same error and thats the fix! I was on earlier and we had a server of about 20 people going, apparently most of the people at least right now, who play, are in Europe so the time is off at the moment.
  13. Yeah, I was brainstorming today about what would be cool to see in your map, and I thought of the same thing as Maxx. You'll notice in The Walking Dead, you see a lot of different types of military vehicles; throughout the first season at least. You could put an area in the map where the military was overrun, have some bloody humvees, maybe even throw in some dead bodies (If thats possible to do, and won't hurt framerate or anything along those liness, I don't know if I've seen it in a map before.) But yeah, you could make an area where the military was attempting to either evacuate civilians, or shelter them. Maybe put a big zombie spawn point on that area. Another cool thing would be to make a building that is chained off, and it says "Dead Inside", and when you get close you hear zombies bashing on the door attempting to get out, like in the hospital scene of The Walking Dead, I thought that was pretty creepy. Another idea I had for a mission, was when you reach a certain point, maybe reach an area where there are multiple buildings, the truck breaks down, and you discover that you need to find and replace the battery. The battery could be located in maybe a parked car, destroyed car in the road, or maybe in a nearby garage. Just an idea to create a hectic "unplanned for" situation. Instead of needing to do stuff to progress down the road, its an unplanned for disaster that your battery dies on the road, and the undead are shuffling toward your vehicle..
  14. Cannot wait for this map! It looks so good I wouldn't be suprised if it gets added to the Dev's next update! Keep it up Hypno! By the way, if at some point you need beta testers let me know; I would be more than happy to help you run tests and look for bugs. I'm sure at some point you'll wanna test the map with multiple players. Again, it looks amazing, can't wait to play it!
  15. This map looks amazing. I can't wait for the release Hypno Toad, keep up the excellent work!
