  1. Alrighty, I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I'd like to re-bring it up. While I was in-game the other day, through three different servers, I was discussing an RPG game-mode, and how others thought of it. A lot of them liked the idea. The idea is simple, if you've ever played Brainbread, they have a hud, and the option to deposit points onto your character each time you play in a specific server. If I'm right, it can go into speed, power, and reload. Something along those lines. Or, a lot of them favored the Killing Floor type of RPG. Everyone gets a distinct class to play from, and each class is perked differently, and increased as you level that class, handling specific tasks given to that perk. However, I don't think this should be immediately. Just something to throw out there once the game has passed the point of not too many bugs left, and a lot more progress has been reached. I just think it would draw in a larger audience of those who favor RPG/Zombie game hybrids. For example: Dead Frontier, Killing Floor, Brainbread, etc.

  4. Any tips for a guy teaching himself how to code? edit: To be more specific, I'm teaching myself C++. Recently, I've become interested in game programming, so I've downloaded Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate SP1 as my API, and I'll be working through the Source SDK 2013 singleplayer v. All of this is for experimentation really, seeing as how I'm not entirely too sure as to what I am doing. https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SDK_Docs I'll be using that as a reference. But either way, anything you guys could tell me to give me a push in the right direction?
  5. well, i do have an extensive list of tutorials/websites at my disposal. i also had a friend of mine rent me a book from his college campus. learning C++ isn't going to be the issue, anyone can do it with time. i'm looking for personal insight, technique, applying what you learn to making a game (though, not sure if that just comes naturally after getting a good grasp of the language), etc.
  6. I've taken like four of these, I always score ENTP.
  7. I'm Slippery-Q, I'm sure a few of you might have seen me in game a few times. Just dropping by to say hello, and see you in-game.
  8. I've noticed a few minor issues while scrambling around the streets with other survivors. Not too sure if it's me, or the game; please help me clarify. - When you run too close to a comrade, you both seem to temporarily conjoin, or just get stuck for a few seconds. This applies to any out of the three maps. - The flame sprites within the city seem to freeze after a little while of playing. I don't know if that's me, or if it's the game, but it happens fairly often. - The bayonet on the one rifle that has it (forgot the name) doesn't make a sound when you stab an enemy. I'm not sure if it's supposed to or not. - I have a crappy computer, so I play this game with graphics settings turned down to their lowest. A lot of the windows/floor textures on Chinatown/Broadway are purple, transparent textures, with a checker-like pattern upon them. However, when I boost the graphic settings, it tends to go away, so I believe this to be my own issue. - On the map "Broadway", when you first enter the apartment building from where you're supposed to access the theater, in the door way of the entrance to the apartment building, there is a dismembered foot. The foot is twice the size of any normal foot, in fact, it looks as if it could crush the head of a zombie easily. I don't know if it's my graphics settings causing this, or if that was done intentionally, but yeah. - Lastly, I'm not too sure if this had been brought to the attention of the developers, but a lot of the melee weapons seem to lack within dealing damage to any zombie. Not sure if that was intentional either, perhaps for realism, but I feel that is may be slightly unbalanced. Any response to any is welcome as clarification for something I may have misjudged. Thank you for taking the time to read.
  9. Yes, I get an extremely low frame rate when I play, whether it be on the highest graphic settings, or the lowest. The only time the frame rate is alright is when I'm not outside of a building. Long distances really mess with my frame rate.
  10. Alrighty, thank you. Will work on getting a video of that sprite. edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHpt2EK4HAM&feature=youtu.be sorry for the sound, don't know what happened. put the game on highest graphic settings.
  11. Oh hey, I was born/raised in Charleston, West Virginia. Specifically Dunbar, Chemical Valley, woot woot. ANYWAYS, if I were to resort to a place to stay, I'd probably bunk out in my house for a few days. You have to take into consideration, if they're your stereotypical zombies, they're dead. Rigor mortis needs to kick in, soon they harden, soon they decay. Within a week or so, a lot of zombies would just be stinky, putrescent, piles of decomposing flesh/tissue. Then, we rebuild.
  12. Well, after an embarrassing attempt for my first hello, I'd like to correct it. Hello, I'm Slippery-Q. I'm sure I've seen a few of you in game, and just dropping by to say hello. That is all.
